Book Review #6 2 States by Chetan Bhagat |
Chetan Bhagat's 2 states, a love story between North and South, is an easy, entertaining read.
Love marriages around the world are simple, Boy loves girl and Girl loves boy. They get married. But in India, there are a few more steps. Boy loves girl, Girl loves boy. Girl's family has to love boy. Boy's family has to love girl. Girl's family has to love Boy's family. Boy's family has to love girl's family. Now if Girl and boy still love each other, then they get married.
The story opens when a Punjabi boy Krish Arora meets Tamil Brahman girl Ananya Swaminathan in the IIMA canteen. The story flows and quite predictably they both fall in love with each other what follows their journey of convincing their parents.
The story moves between three Cities- Ahmedabad, Delhi and Chennai ( a little bit of Goa). The writer intelligently described and compared the culture of both North and South. The story is too much relatable. You can easily relate some of the characters in your day to day life.
The book is filled with love, unity, fun, laugh, humour and sarcasm. The author will give you a clear picture of India through this book. All romantic lovers should surely go for it. The book is surely not a dramatic roller coaster but whenever you will finish the book, you will have a smile in your face.
Hope you like this review.
